Don Levy

This year the film and technology conference is honored to feature Don Levy has been at the forefront of the entertainment industry's digital transformation throughout his career as a senior executive in animation, visual effects, digital media, television and movies. Levy spent 17 years at Sony Pictures Digital where he was instrumental in the establishment and growth of the studio's visual effects, animation, post--production, and digital entertainment (games, mobile, online video, digital marketing) businesses. As a member of the Digital Division's senior management team, he was also involved in digital policy, corporate strategy, organizational development, communications, and many projects than spanned across Sony divisions.

He originally joined the studio as an awards consultant where his efforts resulted in a Best Picture nomination for "Sense and Sensibility" and the Academy Award for its screenplay adaptation by Emma Thompson. At the visual effects company Sony Pictures Imageworks and for Sony Pictures Animation, he helped earn more than a dozen Oscar nominations and Academy Awards for Best Animated Short (The ChubbChubbs) and Best Visual Effects (Spider--Man 2). Marketing positions at Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros Television, and more than 25 feature film assignments preceded his Sony tenure.

Don is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, serving on its feature animation nominating committee and as chair of a working group for the Science and Technology Council. He also is a member of The Television Academy's Interactive Peer Group.

John Joseph Announced as Closing Keynote Speaker 2015 Conference

JOHN JOSEPH is an Award-winning Executive Producer and Director. After winning the Academy Award for Documentary Short Subject while a student at UCLA film school, John began his professional life directing & editing music videos and commercials for clients such as Porsche, Toyota, Apple, and Kaiser Permanente. John went on to work in the episodic TV world doing pilots and series for FOX, CBS, ABC, NBC, and working on the long running series Unsolved Mysteries. With the explosion of documentaries and reality programming on Cable TV, John has Produced and Directed over 150 hours of television for almost every cable outlet from A&E to The Science Channel He has worked on location in Israel, Russia, Italy, Japan, China and almost every state in the U.S. John is currently an Executive Producer at The Weather Channel and has just completed the network's first 2 hour film, Dead of Winter; The Donner Party. The film is slated to premiere at the Boston Film Festival and will debut on the network in early December. Keynote Speaker for Closing Session.

Michael C. Donaldson, Esq. Announced as Closing Keynote Speaker 2014 Conference

The closing keynote presentation taking place the afternoon of Monday, Oct. 6 will feature Michael C. Donaldson, Esq. An independent film and entertainment attorney, Donaldson has been fighting for independent filmmakers for over 30 years. He has worked on films by icons like Oliver Stone and serves as general counsel to Film Independent and the Writers Guild Foundation. His books are used as texts in film courses around the country, and he is the go-to attorney for fair use and other rights-related issues.
